We have almost 30 years’ experience in helping young people set-up in business, and STEP Up into Business carries on this tradition.
Raising young people’s aspirations, and helping them to be realised, are both key to breaking the cycle of disadvantage and worklessness. With youth unemployment persistently high, self-employment may well be the key to a better future for many. Our enterprise programme, accredited by SFEDI provides unemployed young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to take up self-employment as a way out of social and economic inactivity. But we don’t do this alone - businesses have recognised the important role they have in supporting young people to realise their potential, and support our work as mentors and role models.
The programme provides young people with:
- Training towards a qualification in Enterprise Awareness accredited by SFEDI
- Personalised 1-2-1 support and guidance from a Business Advisor to develop their business ideas
- Dedicated support and advice from a business mentor, who understands the challenge of running a business
