From 2010 to 2014, we delivered STARS a project which aimed to help unemployed or economically inactive carers or former carers take greater control of their lives by increasing their life and employability skills.

The project provided a range of opportunities including training, volunteering and work experience to help individuals gain the skills and experience to gain employment or go on to further learning. The project ran in the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.

The project demonstrated that a holistic programme of support can help carers and former carers successfully return to employment. It further reinforced the importance of employers understanding the importance of a flexible workplace. Although the project has now ended employers looking for further support can access written guidance at:

or contact us.

The project was delivered under contract to the BIG Lottery Fund under its Life Skills Programme and co-funded by the European Social Fund

It also generated a Social Return on Investment in the range of £3.30 to £3.45.
